WOMEN’S FOOTBALL TRYOUTS: What to expect!

We’re seeing the turnout of athletic women increase as we prepare for another exciting season of football. We thought it would be a good time to share information about what to expect when you’re trying out for the Mizfits (or any team for that matter!). Here’s some helpful hints to keep in mind as we prepare to kick off the 2022 season.

FIND OUT AS MUCH INFO ABOUT THE TEAM AS POSSIBLE
Facebook is a great place to start. Most teams have a social media presence and during the recruitment season, there will be updates galore. The Mizfits normally begin tryouts in September or early October depending on the season expectations. This year, we’ll be playing in some exciting preseason scrimmages that we want to have as much time to prepare as possible. Flyers will contain a great deal of the information needed, but don’t be afraid to ask a question or two via dm or in the comments. Someone will generally get back to you within a couple of hours.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING WITH YOU TO TRYOUTS?
Depending on the style of the camp, this information can also be found on the flyers. All teams will want you to come in comfortable clothing. If you have cleats, those are preferred, but sneakers or running shoes are also acceptable. You should also bring an ID, water, and any medical equipment you may need. The Mizfits do not currently require a registration fee, but some teams do.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS
We typically have tryouts over a two-day period. Upon arrival, you’ll need to fill out a couple of forms and meet the owner. After that, you’ll warm up with the team including jogging and stretching. After the coaches chat with the participants, you’ll go through a series of timed and non-timed drills to assess your current physical abilities. Tryouts will typically be 1-2 hours. You do not have to come to both days of each camp, but it is highly encouraged. The more opportunities you have to showcase your skills, the better! After the tryouts are concluded, the owner will reach out to let you know if you made the team.

WHAT OTHER OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE IN WOMEN’S FOOTBALL?
We are always looking for help in different areas of the Mizfits organization. We are always willing to talk to coaches. both on the field and off the field. We have plenty of opportunities to help with weekly practices, team conditioning, media for the games, volunteers for game day and more. Most teams will have a board that includes the owners and other assigned duties to help with the team. Don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know if you’re interested in joining the Mizfits family!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR US?
Right now, we’re in the midst of tryouts and we want to see as many people as possible out there! We’re excited to see the talent that has already shown up, as well as the returning Mizfits who are itching to get a championship. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know and we’ll be happy to help!

As always, thank you for all your support and love! It doesn’t go unnoticed.

    1. Hi Daiza! Thank you for checking in. We haven’t finalized the date just yet. We normally have tryouts in September, so I would expect that timeframe. We will definitely post more information here once we confirm the date. Let me know if you have any other questions!
