As promised, the Mizfits are excited to announce several new programs for our team and we’re excited to let people know about our goals and plans for the coming season.

First off, if you haven’t had a chance to check out this amazing Tennessean article featuring us, check it out here!

Team Goals
We have some goals to meet this year and we need all the support we can get. Our goal this year for a successful team will be a minimum of 30 players on the roster by the start of the season. It’s not an impossible feat as we have achieved almost that many players in previous seasons. While we were able to get to the playoffs with a small roster last season, we will only achieve more with the right group of women dedicated to greatness. If you’re interested in joining the team, you can email us at musiccitymizfits.com OR come out to one of our interest meetings OR just show up to tryouts! We’ll be glad to have you. If you simply want to support our efforts, be sure to like our Facebook page here and share tryout information as it comes!

Game Day Goals and Sponsorship Perks
If you have followed the Mizfits for a while, you’ve seen us work hard to give you a quality game that you can watch from anywhere. There have been plenty of technical difficulties to fight through, but we’ve also had a lot of success with streaming from the sidelines on Facebook. A ton of other teams began streaming from the sidelines for their fans that couldn’t attend (as well as the away team fans). But we can do better!

This year, we have a brand new set up for live streaming our games. We plan to stream all the games in a central location (Instagram) that will be viewable from anywhere. This should create a better experience for those viewing from home. We’ll have the whole field, the live score on the screen, and announcers to entertain during timeouts and halftime. All of this will be contingent on finding the right support to make this happen.

We are in search of a few good people who have an interest in media and putting on a show. This would be great for anyone in need of footage for a portfolio or reel. Specifically, we need 2-3 camera operators, 1-2 announcers, and 1 producer who will manage the actual live stream.

If you’re interested in being a part of the media team, email us.

The other exciting piece of our streams is we will have commercials! This is an opportunity for our sponsors to directly control how we spotlight them. It’s a great opportunity for any local businesses hoping to make connections in the community. The commercials can be done in advance or we can create one for you with your permission. If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor, please email us or check out our sponsorship page here.

Name Image and Likeness (NIL) Mizfits Pride Initiative
The Mizfits organization has already done some of the impossible by paying their players based on performance during games. This began in 2021 with the opportunity to win money for each game if you were the MVP on either offense or defense. This is a further extension of our MVP of the year, Rookie of the Year, Linewoman of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year, all of who win a trophy AND a cash prize for their efforts. These awards have gone a long way to motivate our players and to support future expenses that come up on and off the field. We’ll continue that program for the 2023 season, but there’s even more to look forward to.

Owner Donita Hines and Offensive Coordinator Donald Ragsdale have worked together to create the Mizfits Pride Name, Image and Likeness(NIL) initiative. This opportunity will be presented to players to act as ambassadors for businesses who support our qualifying athletes. Our players will continue to receive discounts from our sponsors, but select players will also get paid directly by the sponsors for brand marketing. This is huge for the Mizfits as this will serve as one of the first instances of women being paid because they play football. What makes this even more magical is that any player with the Mizfits can take advantage of this perk. As long as players are doing their best to represent the Mizfits brand, they can get the NIL opportunity to represent a local company, get paid, and enjoy a little relief on the financial side of football. We can’t thank the leadership team enough for this idea and helping their players succeed. If you remember previous articles, you’ll remember Donita spoke on this before and now it’s coming to fruition. The Mizfits have teamed up with Restore Hyper Wellness- Smyrna to pay two of our athletes, Leshay Shute and MJ Johnson, for appearing in commercials and social media ads. We couldn’t be prouder of these two and are extremely thankful for Restore and their generosity. Be sure to stop in at Restore Hyper Wellness- Smyrna and say thanks. Another big deal we’re excited to showcase is creating Mizfit NFT’s for sale. The idea here is you get to support our team, our league, and/or your favorite player by collecting NFT’s of your favorite Mizfit moments. These NFT’s will include player photos, stats, background information, and even a few highlights! Of course these NFT’s are tradeable and shareable. Let us know what you think and who you want to see next.

Meet the Mizfits 2.0
This year, we will be doing a lot more for the community and giving back where we can. We always participate in community service events, but now we want to bring a more fan-focused approach. Every year the Mizfits do a promotion called Meet the Mizfits to allow fans to get to know the players and coaches on the team. Well, this year we have some things to add to that campaign, giving fans the opportunity to meet players and coaches in real life! Fans can actually participate in our new coach’s podcast (more information coming soon), the signing party will be opened up to the public and media, and we will be giving sideline access to games. We look forward to seeing our fans interacting with Mizfits nation in a more personal and memorable way.

Changing the Game of Football, One Woman at a time

All in all, the Mizfits are about to make a big statement in the league and in sports in general. We can’t wait to begin. We will do what we need to do to make this sport profitable, stable, and fun. We hope that we’ll begin to see the tides continue to turn in favor of women’s football. Why not start at home?
